About me

I am a sound artist, musician, designer, technologist and researcher based in London. In the 90’s I studied engineering and toured Europe with my Croatian rock band, before moving to London to continue my music career studying jazz and playing with different rock, jazz and funk ensembles.

In 2007 I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Sonic Arts from Middlesex University and got involved with designing sound for contemporary theatre, dance, video, installations and documentaries as well as exhibiting electroacoustic work.

From 2006-2010 I was a resident sound designer with three theatre production companies and one film production company. In the past six years my sound work has travelled across Canada, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Czech Republic, England, Scotland, US and Germany, where I was invited to do a talk at Campus Party Europe in 2012 (and again at Campus Party Europe in London in 2013!).

In 2009 I was commissioned to design an interactive sound installation for a children's sensory garden in London. Based on this project I wrote a research proposal to Queen Mary University of London and was awarded an EPSRC DTA PhD studentship to continue my research in the field of human-computer interaction for children in 2010.

Whilst focusing my research on different methods for gathering requirements for design of interactive technologies, I continued with my sound art practice and got involved with the following initiatives promoting and supporting female participation in STEM, for which I also won a Highly Commended WISE Leader Award in November 2013:
  • G.Hack (art & technology lab for women focusing on sharing knowledge and developing interactive media art projects through collaboration with arts organisations, universities and industry partners), Chair 2011 - present
  • BCSWomen (British Computer Society specialist group providing networking opportunities for all BCS professional women working in IT around the world), committee 2012 - present, Mentoring Working Group (MWG) leader 2013 - present
  • Flossie (Network for women using open source software and hardware), Flossie collective 2011 - present
  • inQube (EU female digital accelerator network), executive committee May 2013 - present
  • WISE@QMUL (Women in Science and Engineering Society), Chair 2012 - 2013
